HIGH TEA

We wanted to create a series of pictures reminiscent of the early 20th Century styling---women dressed in lace and silk against the background of flowering gardens and nature.  Throw in a high tea celebration, a once upon a time daily ritual and the drama is created.  This story unfolds as one of days spent in English gardens.  Thanks again to shooter, Jim Vetter who has an eye like no other for creating special scenes like these.  And none of us could have found a better spot than the picturesque Marin Art and Garden Center in Northern California to bring this unique study of dreams to life . . . .

GATSBY'S BRIDE

The majestic backdrop of The San Francisco Theological Seminary paired up with the shooting savoire faire of photographer Samantha Smith proved a winning combo.  All the gowns, head chic and accessories you see here come from Gatsby's Bride, a new capsule collection  showcasing a bygone era when the rich lived in castles, bogeyed to early jazz and wore a lot of lace and silk.  I poured on the lace here bordering  veils, cascading ruffles, sleeves and trains to convey romance and femininity while using softer liquid fabrics that hug and cling to the body.   Designing this collection was a really rewarding project and i simply love the results . . . .

DE LA RENTA'S BLUES

Here and there amid all the white lace and tulle did anyone notice the oceanic blues Oscar de la Renta incorporated into his Spring 2013 collection?  I really love the subtle additions of a satin organza train, the tulle shawl and ruffled over skirt.  Even the accessories from earrings to head wreath and bouquets don this complimentary, gentle blue tone.  It's the little details like these that are ever changing bridal fashion and I'm just like a kid in a candy store watching it all happen . . .
